The delegation of the National Public Registry Agency is participating in the 14th session of the United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM) in New York.
As the primary agency responsible for geoinformation policy, the Public Registry is a member of the UN-GGIM.
During the current sessions, the Georgian delegation had the opportunity to meet with experts and agencies from other countries to discuss current aspects of geospatial information management and cooperation issues. Additionally, the agency's representatives learned about the experiences of different countries.
A systemic land registration reform is underway at the National Agency of Public Registry, making it crucial to familiarize with international practices in geospatial matters. The experience gained during this session will contribute to the even more successful implementation of the reform.
At the session, delegates from Georgia and various countries discussed the introduction of integrated geospatial information or global geospatial information standards for effective land administration and management.
Participation in the UN session is important for the country, both for deepening cooperation with the world's leading sectoral agencies and experts and for developing new projects.
The Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM) is a subsidiary body of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). It provides coordinated access to geospatial information and resources to Member States and the public. Additionally, the Committee facilitates coordination and dialogue between Member States and relevant international organizations to effectively achieve cooperation in global geospatial information management for sustainable development goals.
