The delegation of the National Agency of Public Registry under the Ministry of Justice of Georgia attended the 15th Session of the United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM) in New York and reviewed current issues.
Within the framework of the working sessions, Deputy Chairman of the National Agency of Public Registry, Vakhtang Bokhashvili, together with agency representatives, discussed integrated geospatial information and the introduction of standards for effective land administration and management.
The National Agency of Public Registry is the body responsible for the country’s geodetic, cartographic, and cadastral data, creating essential and fundamental geographic databases. The agency also coordinates the establishment and development of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI).
Across the country, the National Agency of Public Registry is implementing a systematic land registration reform, for which international experience in geospatial management is of key importance.
The agency is also working on the implementation of the Integrated Geospatial Information Framework (IGIF) of UN-GGIM, which will contribute to the development of national spatial data, the sharing of fundamental geospatial information, and its effective management.
The sessions of the United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM) are organized annually by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs, Statistics Division.
The event brings together state institutions from member countries engaged in the geospatial field, as well as representatives of academia, international organizations, and international experts.
